Default 9 thousand to much for paint job?

So my 05 mustang gt has been in the paint shop for a month in half and about 3 weeks from being finished. I am having a California style front bumper and GT500 rear bumper and a 2.5" cowl hood put on. And the stang will be completely painted, windows removed and everything and will be painted jet black which is a darker black than stock black. My question is does anyone think paying 9 grand for a complete paint restore is fair.

It sounds like a high quality job , but it better be if its 9000.

It better look show car great basically and that better be what you wanted if you would agree to pay 9000.

The title is a question you should have asked yourself when you decided to go through with it..

It really depends on your goal.

I would never pay that much unless the car was a special (Shelby, Roush, maybe Mach, or Cobra) car. 9K is almost half of what I paid for my '11. I understand you get what you pay for, and I would never say get a $500 Maco paint job if you plan on keeping the car for a while but....9K....thats just to much.

I could understand 9k if they were pulling the engine, doing the underbody, etc. but if not then no way..

He did say it would be as close to car show quality within my budget of 10 grand and I did have a bit of body work to be done with a few dents and scratch marks. And had to have a corner on the fiberglass hood fixed. Hood pins install as well, and this will be my Mustang for a long time to come. I think that's why I rather pay to restore it then get a brand new one that will cost me 25-30 grand and then I will get the mod bug and put a extra 2-5 more grand into it.

Man I must of ask myself this question a hundred times before I did it, I did go to serval different shops and most of them said around 7 to 8 thousand for every thing and wouldn't even touch my new hood because of the gel-coat on it.

A quality paint job (not trailer queen show) is about $4500 for that size car...
That doesn't include any body work if that's needed but it has to have 3 coats of clear for durability, not the 2 medium orange peely ones that the factory gives you.
Of course, everything comes off the car. That includes ALL glass, bumpers, hood and trunk lid.
The doors can stay on providing your jambs are fine.

After all that though, in your case, you still have to justify another $4500 towards the parts you mentioned and the occasional dents/dings etc...
Seems a little stiff to me.
2 Grands less is more reasonable unless they wet sand and buff the car to a flat look with zero orange peel what so ever.
But then again, why would you do that on a daily driven car that's gonna get abused anyway?

That's exactly what there doing a wet sand and buff to bring out the ripples and this a 2 in a half month job not a 2 week job plus all work warrant for as long as I own the car or they are open which has been in there for over 30 yrs. and I this will not be my daily driver anymore will be garage kept for weekends and shows, I drove it for 6 yrs as a DD which is why it needed a new paint job.

It sounds like you are happy with it and comfortable with the shop. Doesn't really matter what the rest of us think. Enjoy your new paint job, I hope it turns out great. Post pics when you get it back.
