Oh if only businesses worked together so seamlessly...

Really glad we could get to the bottom of this

Well the dealership just called and said the clutch pack fixed the problem. I will let you all know the results of my test drive. I will not get it back till tomorrow because they are also looking into a dash rattle.

Concerning the gear change out.....they wanted about $1,100.00 bucks so I said I don't think so. I'll get it done later with the s/c pulley change.

Damn! talk about rip off, that work only costs about $400-$500, including the gears. Glad to hear you got the other problem fixed though.

Can I ask a Newbie kind of question about the gears? I have a stock 2006 GT and while the accelleration is outstanding a lot of the time (especially from a dead stop on level ground) there are places in the gears where the thing doesn't get up and go at all. It seemed to me that my 1999 GT was more consistent - it jumped whenever you floored it. When the 2006 goes - it goes like a rocket (and much faster than the 1999) but when it slugs it really slugs.

Is that because of the way the standard gears are set up?

Had my 2006 GT in twice for "leaking power steering hoses". After they changed the hoses, it turns out it was the pump that needed replacing after 1,100 miles. Dealer said they would contact Ford. Cross your fingers on this repair.

Talk about retro....they even put the original power steering whine into the new model? Now that's going the extra mile!
My 06 GT only has 300 miles on it ....I have to stop reading these posts lol

I had a noise issue with the mustang when it was idling... it sounded like it was coming from the front right tire area. the dealer didn't hear anything at first, but then i discovered that it was actually the exhaust system. i installed hose clamps and it's been fine ever since!

I am having the exact same noise while turning left or right and most noticeable after the car has warmed up. I wanted to wait till the noise was regular but now I can show this to the dealer any time.. Please let me know what everyone finds. I have only 4000 miles on a 2006 GT.. Its a definite power steering groan

Any comments from anyone whether this is suspect to the PS pump or the gear issues I am reading in these threads.

Still waiting on the clutch pack (on order from dealership). Will let everyone know result.

It's taking a long time to get the part because a lot of cars have this problem (per dealership). We will see.
