whats our top speed with 4.10s, 4.30s and 3.90s?
actual top speed or theroretical top speed?

actual, i know sleeper hit 175ish with 4.30s casue it makes 5th gear useable to overcome the drag, however that was the total top speed, with 4.10s you could hit 190 mph if you have the HP to overcome the drag but mostlikely dont, so 160ish maybe
Yeah, thats the only thing i don't like about our cars... the poor aerodynamics, whats the best thing we could do to make our cars more aerodynamic?
Definately lower them.. maybe a good front splitter or chin spoiler to help direct airflow.. beyond that I cant really think of anything.

For us automatic guys forget the gears and get a 4000 stall converter assuming you have the factory cam. You will ET faster with a properly sized stall converter than any gear will give you. Our 3.31 gearing is fine with this stall. Been there done that with my 98 Camaro.

So then what is the proper stall speed coverter for our auto?

4000 as stated above. Our peak torque is 4500. You want your true stall 500 rpm below peak torque.

Since you seem to know alot about these maybe you can help me understand what exactly it means to have a stall speed at 4000 rpms.. This doesnt mean that when you push on the gas the wheels wont start turning until 4k rpms right? Because that seems horrible for street use...

Rofl, that would be pretty hardcore though.

Oh no. You will have pull even at idle but just not as much. You will have more slippage. When accelerating your rpm will go up to almost 3000 rpm on a normal take off verses just over 2000 or so with our factory stall. In town you will use a little more fuel but on the highway it will make zero difference once the converter locks.

For the average street/strip driver I would recommend nothing more than PI's 3200, #6 pump or may even the 3600, #7 pump stall. For maximum 60' and et however get the 4000, #8 pump will really get the job done. I drove my 98 Camaro on the street with the 3600 and liked it fine. The factory or a tighter stall is better however for street use.

The big advantage of a stall is in your 60' and shift extension. Your rpms still drop the same % with a gear but not so with a converter. My engine drops to around 4000 rpm on that 3-4 shift. With a stall it would never see below 5000 on any shift. That's the big advantage of a stall over gearing.
