Default Whistle Coming From engine

In first gear i have notice a gradual whistle while accelerating. Last night i floored the pedal for the first time in a while and heard a loud whistle again. Just asking opinions before calling Ford.

I also have a sound during acceleration, but I would describe it as more of a whine than a whistle. I have a manual trans. and notice it in 1st-3rd. I can hear it with the windows up and radio on. I have 2200 miles and the whine seems to be getting louder. It sounds like it is coming from the transmission.

Does it sound like it is coming from the transmission, engine, or rear end?? I know there are some posts on rear end whine but not sure about the others.

Hi Folks: I get the same sound in lower gears when I stomp on the gas hard. I have an auto with 14k on it. It does not sound sinister to me, but I am no mechanic. I am interested in hearing what others have to say.

From what I gather everyone has this. Some have taken it to dealerships and have recieved the same response, "Its normal". I believe it has something to do with the gears being the way they are or something. I get it even when I don't get on it. Just one of those sounds I guess.

Chicago.......maybe it's the smog.

Its not a bad sound. When i first heard it i thought the intake box wasnt completly closed, if that helps describe the noise any better
