burnout help
ok... im not afraid of launching... its the burnout that scares me...hence my hesitation to run at the local dragstrip...i have a stick and i am not quite sure about how to burnout a stick without screwing things up or hitting someone... my guess is rev it up, dump the clutch, quickly tap the brakes ( but not too hard as to stop the brakes and kill the engine looking like a moron)... would shifting to second be better? or leave it in first?... i am not good at the heel-toe method yet, so anyone help me?

RE: burnout help
ok so practice in the rain? im just afraid of killing it and looking stupid... would you start in second or just shift really fast into second and then tap the brakes for a brake stand?

RE: burnout help
Sooner or later it comes down to: performance or appearance.
How important is it to not look like a fool, relative to acquiring a skill that may be of some benefit?
Ask a guy who did a second-gear burnout and left it in second for the launch ...
Also, my best ET and MPH were after driving around the pit. Burnout didn't seem to help on stock tires. But it was fun, a couple of times.

You really don't want to get in the water box at the track anyway.Drive around it spin the tires a little to clean them off and your all set.

However, when I went to do the burnout, I just gave it a lot of gas, then popped the clutch; the rear end broke loose and spun the tires ever so easily (with the TCS off!)
