Default 2006 and 2007 Mustang GT

Has anyone had an opportunity to compare the engine compartment and front subframe sheet metal on the 2006 and 2007 GT. I understand from reading some info about the Shelby GT500 that all 2007 GTs share changes made in the strut towers and other sheet metal bracing needed for Shelby GT500 engine and suspension.

I find it interesting that Shelby could influence Ford to change the 2007 design and production line so Shelby could have the engine, suspension and subframe improvments he wanted. I believe it is a very positive thing that Shelby’s design team ideas are on all 2007s.

and............ it's about 122# more, with no benefitto a GT owner, but extra weight.
No one influenced FORD, they simply decided to BUILD them all the same.
There really isn't any benefit what-so-ever to this, as it's added weight to the GT.
Again, What's your point ?

hehe....Shelby doesnt really have much influence because he really doesnt design that much anymore. The guys at SVT I am sure do most of the work and shelby puts a little input here and there, but he is not nearly involved as he was in the past with the cars. He has more to do with the Shelby GT than the GT500....

Better? Better in what way?

I'm asking because I'm just about to pull the trigger on an 07 V6 convertible. In shopping the lots, I found the 07 to drive...differently...than did the 05, meaning it seemed more precise, wandering around less.

Also, In driving the 05s, I found them to be much louder, almost like driving the 07 with a window down, whereas the 07 seemed almost as quiet as the coupe. Anyone know if there were any sound-deadening changes, or do the cars just become that loud and rattly that quickly ?

Is there a thread besides this one on whatever other changes were made for the 07s? This was the only one that came up with my efforts at searching.

thanks! Mike Nassour / Austin
