Default Anybody have panic alarm just go off?

Sunday morning my wife wakes me up saying your car alarm is going off. I told her I do not have a car alarm. Then I went to the window and sure enough the lights and horn was flashing. Pushed panic button and it went off. But after a few minutes it came back on?? Went out press it again and it went off. But this time I started the car for a few minutes and it never happen again.

Anybody see this happen to them?

I have the "Panic" button disabled on my remote so
I dont accidentally set if off when I am trying to
unlock the car. Its really annoying when those
panic alarms go off unintentionally because Grandma
cant seem to figure out how to use the remote.
Sunday mornings you can hear them when everyone
is going off to church. Cant seem to remember which
button is which even though most are color coded.
Worst option ever in my opinoin.[:-]

If you have the active anti-theft, it may have gone off due to a bug flying around inside the cabin. Basically wehn the active anti-theft is activated, any movement within the car causes the alarm to go off. I know i can do this with my hand, i'm not sure how sensitive it is...

I disabled the panic button on the remote by taking it apart
and putting a round ring of the proper size around the panic
switch inside so it could not be depresed. It takes just the right
size of round ring of some sorts. I cant remember what I used
but once you get it open you will get the idea. Kinda like a
sliver of a bic ball point pen housing.

Alright guys, I started having this very problem just today.........my first ever electronic gremlin. I do have the active anti-theft (which I like). The car has sat in the driveway undriven for two days, then today just before noon the alarm starts sounding. My wife calls me at work to tell me I need to come home and check it out. When I get home the alarm is off. I check and see that nothing has been tampered with, the doors are still locked. I unlock it, look around, and lock it back with the remote. I go inside...and 4 minutes later, the alarm goes off again. I use the remote and turn it off. Then I set it again..........minutes later, same thing.

Before leaving for work again I just hit the lock button on the inside the door. I got home about an hour ago and tried to reset the alarm yet again. It hasn't gone off again since then. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out what could have transpired to make the alarm start goin crazy all of a sudden like this. The only explanation I have is that is has been crazy hot this last week or so. I usually put a sunshade reflector in my front windshield to keep the temps down inside, but I didn't have it in the last two days that the car has been sitting. I'm wondering if the heat didn't start fuddling up the motion sensors in the car......cuz since it started raining and cooled down, the alarm hasn't self activated again.

Anyone else experience this???[]

My situation exactly. Bought the car August 15 2005, and haven't experienced a singleelectronic gremlin until today.......when the panic alarm triggered itself 3 times for no apparent reason. I came home and set the alarm again...........and it has behaved itself for over an hour with no problems. Only difference is that earlier (when it went off) it was 100 degrees out, and right now its raining and in the 70s. Other than that, nothing has changed.[&:]

If you open it up and just put a little sliver of paper over the metal contact the button won't work anymore.
