Default cold air intakes

I fount this Mustangtuning.com
To maximize the benefit of all the additional airflow, the computer must be re flashed (Steeda uses the SCT Xcalibrator for this purpose). With the kit installed and the computer re calibrated, Steeda found 26.7 ponies at the rear wheels, and 22 additional ft/lbs of torque. Those are substantial gains, verified on the Steeda Dyno.
Not bad for a little green. Check it out if interested!

why can't they make CAI for 99-04 stangs that offer that much RWHP gains. seeing the mods come out for the 05 are making me sad i didn't get an 05, even though i'm still not too fond of the body style. WHAT A MACHINE!

Would the CAI void the warranty? If you add the h.p gains from the X-calibrator and the CAI you are looking at roughly 50 h.p.$600.00 for 50 h.p isnt bad, especially for not getting your hands dirty! I would love to do theese mods when I get my stang, but not if it costs me the warranty!

It depends on your dealer. Some dealers let you get away with it and some don't. Call your dealer and ask.

the reason the computer must be flashed when changing something is that it is probably based on simple ai technoology..which it probably is preprogrammed with a exact operating specs for the entire vehicle..so when you put a intake on or replace something..it is not get the same readout as before from sensors..so hence the check engine light..id say you probably need to flash it with car running so that it gets new information from all sensors that become teh standard for what it checks agaisnt..but i dunno..i probably wont screw with my new one at all for a while

I have the Steeda kit installed on mine. You don't add the 26.7 horsepower plus the xcalibrator. The two together make 26.7 more at the rear wheels. If you have the MMR then you need to get a re-flash from one on the current companys. If you don't your check engine light will stay on because it changes your Air Fuel ratio. SCT has the file to adjust the air fuel ratio to pick up the gain. The CAI only gives you about 17 by itself. Another thing while i'm at it... you can't simply add up all the reported hp gains from all of your mods. It doesn't work like that. You have to Dyno them yourself afterwards. My original SCT flash gave me 17 at the wheels but the CAI gives 17 at the wheels so that would make 34 right? No together they only make 26.7 and thats after you get thew new file for the CAI. Just thought I would share this. Now on the other hand you will benifit from under drive pullies after these mods because they slow your accessories down by 25%. Thats direct Horsepower back to the wheels. I included the pic below.
