Ford doesnt ACTUALLY make this part. they buy it from someone else and install it themselves. I am sure that they COULD have bought a part that would have been more accurate and thus avoid the dead space in the throttle. But they chose to go with this part. Why? Because when you buy a million at a time a small difference like $0.25 makes a bigass difference.

right!!!!!, example you are on a light, there is no body next to you, suddenly the light turns, and at the
same time a civic fly by. You Punch it! take off like crazy and That 0.1 of a second that you saved
make you eat the civic 0.1 sec quicker (i'm thinking on my car, AUTO)

If at idle rpm the wire is sitting atop the "hump" at the end of the sweep, then moving the wire so it no longer rests on the hump has to increase the idle rpm. And if the idle rpm is higher, its just like staging at the line and power braking as you wait for the green. The throttle is already in theory moved".
All that keeps running through my head is, if this makes the car respond faster, then why wouldn't Ford do it? It would cost nothing.
Its like when some after market company makes a gizmo that improves gas mileage by 25%. The part costs $29 and it raises your mileage. If it was true why wouldn't the factory install the same component (at a lot less then $29 with bulk purchasing) and be able to claim that "our 300 hp car also gets 27 miles to the gallon! They'd clean up. The answer? Cause the claims are bogus.
I hope that you are really on to something. But I'll wait til others have sacrificed their lives in the name of technology before I start f-ing with my pedal assembly.

Please go to the local strip and show us the reaction time results "without" power braking the throttle when staged. If this really works, the reaction time, which is the elapsed time taken from the tree light turning green and the front tire breaking the stage beam. The non adjusted throttle pedal should have a greater reaction time then the manipulated one. The qtr mile time won't matter because that starts from the time the reaction time ends. I'm confident the magazine you write for has cart blanche at the local strip. So getting time to test won't be an issue, and what a story this will be in the next publication. I'm smelling Pulitzer!

I definitely understand your skepticism, and I'm a little skeptical too about modifying an integral component of my car for a minimal (imo) benefit. However, without pioneers, there would be little or no advancements in technology, and as with anything, there is a risk/benefit association. Some may not think the benefit is worth the risk, and others will.So to criticize someone for their pioneering efforts, especially when ittheir efforts may work to our benefit, I think iscounter productive. Questioning it is one thing, but to blatently criticize their efforts is another. I'm extremely grateful that people are willing to try this mod and offer their results in this forum. Maybe I'll try this too if I get around to it this weekend.

I went back and re-looked at the pictures of your brushes. I looks like the tip of the brush was designed to contact the resistive track at 90 degrees. Is the very tip of the brush cut square or is it rounded to provide some bearing surface as it wipes the resistive track? If the tip is not rounded is there a danger that the sharp edge of the bush may cut into the track now that the bush contact is at an angle?
