It probably has to do with Motorcraft being made by Ford. Its sort of like Microsoft recommending you use the Office Suite over all overs....

Unless I made some huge power increases with a supercharger and a lot of boost and planned to run it hard in the summer heat all the time, I cant see not using the Motorcraft semi-synthetic 5w20 that Ford puts in there new cars and use the Motorcraft filter.
Its all I have ever used in my 07 GT and its never used a drop nor gave any kind of trouble, and I have Ford change it at 3.000 mile intervals. But as said, there are thousands of oppinions out there and you have to wade through it all I guess. I seem to be in the minority as far as running what Ford tested to be the best for our engines, old age is most likely the cause.

You know, you may be right. I never thought of that before, thanks.

I'm big on the Red Line. Been using for years and several 100k miles in several rides. I'm using the Ford filter cause I heard its good, and cause I heard they frown if there are "oil related issues" and other filters are found on the car.
Do yourselves a favor, check www.tufoil.com The machinist that built my last engine recommended it, I've run it for a long time, and my engines are working just fine.
Running Redline and 8 ounces Tufoil in the engine, Redline D4 and a 10% mix Tufoil in my 5 Speed on the GT. Couldn't wait to do both, but waited till 3.8k on input from Redline and Tufoil people.

Ive always been a Mobil 1 guy, but..... After reading the controversy on the new SM rating, which Mobil 1 meets, and how the older SL rating might offer better protection, I may switch to Valvoline Synthetic or Quaker's Advanced Engine synthetic which use the older SL rating. Just did a change with more Mobil 1 so I have sometime to think about it.
Oh right, so what I was getting at it Im pretty sure Ill try red line next time.
