Gas prices and the new Musclecar era
I have a sneaking suspicion that with crude going over $100 a barrel and gas prices creeping toward $4 a gallon and likely to go to $5, we might see the end of what we love. The new Camaro and Challenger could fail before they ever even hit the showrooms, and the Mustang might fade from what it is now instead of jump into the HP race. Sure, there will be enthusiasts andcollectors and weekend car buyers that would love to have these cars, but the sales numbers will not add up. I saw this happen in the 70s.

Just means they will be cheaper for those of us who are smart enough to have commuter cars parked in the driveway (even though I never use it)

Yes, initially. But the big 3 will not continue to sell these cars to lose money for those of us that can afford to drive them. They aren't in the niche car market, and if they are, we couldn't afford them.

Actually this is going to hit the HUGE SUV market much harder, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Gas here is well over $3. My profession is inpetroleum refining catalyts, so I have an idea of what to expect..

This is my DD, and while it does anger me, when I think about it, you only live once so you might as well suck up the prices and drive a great looking car as much as you can. Now if this was a hummer forum, I would've sold my H2 a long time ago

All because of those stupid tree huggers[:@].
We can't drill, can't build morerefineries, so we have to give cash to Terrorists. Undirectly but still...
There's no reason to why the price of Oil goes that high.
