are they actually worth buying as far as brighter, or whiter light?

The Silverstars are whiter and brighter than stock (at least on my SUV...) but not that irritating "so-frickin'-white-you-want-to-punch-their-lights-out" white. They also aren't bad in foul weather. I'm planning on some for the Stang. I've also picked up Yellowstars for the fogs to compensate in inclimate weather. Worked well on the SUV...

Do you guys with the silverstars have any problem with the plugs melting? I had a set of silverstars in my last car, and they melted the plug that goes into the light. Never shorted but just melted the plastic housing some. Are they just direct plug and play for the mustang, or do you need a relay?

I haven't used them in the Stang yet. Never had a problem in 4 years with the SUV.

they don't last much longer than 6 months just so you know. waste of money IMO.
That's funny...I've had mine in since about a week after I bought my car, Dec. 8th, 2006. I haven't had to replace them yet...
Ive had mine in since May '07, but I can see where Sonic is coming from. I used to run ST's in my 95 Tacoma and the damn things would last about 3-4months, and would always **** out on a trip to LA or LV! The brightness was a lot better but the life of the lamp made me switch back to standard. Definitely keep the stocks in the trunk just in case!
I had them in my old Saturn as well (the original stock bulbs were very yellow; looked like I had yellow fogs in), and the only times I had to replace a Silverstar on that car was twice, on the driver's side fog lamp (I think I was getting some sort of vibration that caused the filament to break). The high/low beams never got replaced after I put them into the car, and I had them in the car for 5 years. Maybe I'm just lucky with the life of the Silverstars, or you and Sonic got bad bulbs? Who knows...
I've had h13st in for over a year no problem

mine have been since 2004 (9007, basically the same as a H1, just the base is different to fit the housing). just DONT touch the bulb. If you touch them or get them dirty when you are putting them in, they will not last.

I beg to differ - Mine have been in for over a year with zero problems. I love them. Big improvment
