I am about to order a new 05 v6 and i am having trouble deciding between auto and manual...i have read multiple articles that say auto is just as fast as manual..but i dunno if thats true...any v6 owners out there i would love to hear your opinion...i also live in dallas tx so auto wud be less of a hassle but i want whatever is faster for the most part...thanx
Just checked FORD.COM, the build feature indicates the auto is the same for V6 or V8, a 5 speed. This should make very little difference in the "quickness" of the car.

You just have to be willing to drop the $995.00 cost of the option.

The 5 speed auto has a 2550 stall lock up convertor and the first 3 gears are closely spaced it does a really good job of keeping the engine right in the middle of it's power band. It's also very quick to respond to input from the acclerator however...
Despite how good it is, I have always preffered a manual. They are just more fun and really put you in touch with the whole driving experience.
Yup, get the manual.

You guys forget that although it is fun to drive a manual, after a while you realize its work. Also am I the only one who wants a free hand when I'm driving with the ladies?

haha...prolly not...but i ordered mine today and ordered auto...i think ill get tired of manual...plus the auto is just as fast as the manual in new mustangs...also i can still shift from 1-2-3 manually but w/o a clutch...i think it wuz the right choice
