Crap, my speedometer reads too high...

RE: Crap, my speedometer reads too high...
I have noticed pretty much the same thing with mine (stock tires @ 32psi). They always set up one of those "Your Speed Is" signs on the main road near my house, and my speedo was reading 40 when the sign was saying 35 - 36 mph. I used the revolutions per mile setting in the SCT 2 tuner and finally got it dead on @ 35mph and 40mph. There was a post a while back about a similar problem (forget which forum ) where the easier solution was to remove the needle from the speedo and put it back on slightly lower. I have not tried this method, but noticed my speedo is off again (after approx. 6 mos.) by about 2mph @ 35mph. I give up at this point and will be watching this post for any solutions.

Alright, cool. Since the guy above is gonna watch this post I'm pretty much obligated to take it to the dealer now under warranty (haha).
I'll try to do it tomorrow and I'll keep everyone posted. I really don't want a speedo that reads 10mph too high at 80.

When I took mine in they just walk around the car with a little remote control device until your car honks then they send you on your way.[8D]

My 2007 is off 5 mph too. No way to fix it. Its not a calibration error its an index error. IE it reads 45 mph at 40 mph and 80 mph at 75 mph. The face is off relative to the actual gauge.
The odometer actually reads 0.5% low as it is. If they calibrated the speedo at 75 mph it would be off everywhere else and the odometer would read 7% low.
I have tried several 3.55 geared 2007's and they all seem to be off 5 mph. (2500 rpm at 60 mph in 4th).
Both 2005's I have driven on the other hand only seem to be off 1 mph (2675-2700 rpm at 60 mph in 4th).

at 60 mph my gps says my speed is about 3 mph off. the difference is worse the faster you go. this is pretty standard with most cars. my wife's cherokee is worse.
for all those guys that THINK they were going 150mph when they buried their speedo... not likely. probably at least 10mph off or more. which makes sense why a lot of them say it was "still pulling".
