Exhaust Drone - Million Dollar Question

Exhaust Drone - Million Dollar Question
My setup: 08 GT, w/40 series Flowmasters (weld on)
My problem: Exhaust drone at 1800 to 2000 rpm, 5th gear, cruising speed 55 to 75 mph.
Yes, I should have read on this forum about this problem prior to making my purchase. But, I did not know the problem existed until after I experienced it first hand. Now that I've done the research, I've located tons of threads on the dreaded drone created by aftermarket exhaust with the S197 model car.
And yes, I know it's a muscle car with a powerful V8, which is going to have a rather unique sound when combined with aftermarket mufflers. (My previous V8 was a 2003 Mustang GT with the same muffler - it didn't have this problem - and I know now, it was because the mufflers were in a different location. I absolutely loved this muffler on my old 03 GT.)
Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind the rumble and loudness of a powerful car. I truly want the car to sound mean as hell on the outside. But, what I do mind is the drone sound I get inside the car at cruising speed - especially when my daily commute is an hour in both directions. By the time I've made it to work or back home, I feel like the noise has almost liquefied my brain to a point that it might just pour out of my ears.
My questions are:
Has anyone had any luck killing this resonating sound?
What about Dynamat or Fatmat? Does this crap work? Will it stop this?
My budget is tight, so I need to do this on the cheap.
Please help,

RE: Exhaust Drone - Million Dollar Question
If you really like the sound of these mufflers and want to keep them, your only real choice is to have a muffler shop weld in some resonators. They are not expensive. If you want to get ghetto, like I did on my former Lexus, you can go to a welding supply store and buy 2 welding blankets. Wrap the mufflers tighlty with the blankets using 14ga stainless wire. This will reduce the drone by about 75%.
The other option, and this is a DIY I've seen done, is to cut a hole in eachexhaust pipe in front of the rear axle. You then need to weld on a 90 degree elbow and a 3/4" capped pipe about 12" long. If you've ever seen water hammer arrestors in plumbing, you'll know what i mean. In the end, you'll have a 3/4" pipe running parallel to your exhaust pipesT'd in. This acts as a very effective resonator and will eliminate all drone.
Otherwise, save upfor some Corsas my friend!

RE: Exhaust Drone - Million Dollar Question
Hey, thanks for the info drbobvs!
Does anyone know if the resonators eliminate all drone? Or does it just tame it a little?
Does anyone have a picture of the drone hammer arrestor mod mentioned above?

RE: Exhaust Drone - Million Dollar Question
I call the drone a harmonic imbalance.I even tried an x-pipe to alter the sound. You drop off into fifth w/3:55's and the lower RPM's from the 4.6 just make it blab real bad. I've heard that the 4:10' gear upgrade eliminates some of the blab due to the higher RPM's in 5th.

RE: Exhaust Drone - Million Dollar Question
the resonators will just deaden the drone, but it will still be there but more tolerable. if you intend on changing out the midpipe or headers later then you should change the mufflers.

RE: Exhaust Drone - Million Dollar Question
Heres what I did: I gotta an off road h pipe to intensify the drone!
just get an h pipe for a little while then remove it and you wont notice the drone anymore
