the trans in 05 to 07 is the same trans in the 08. its thetremec 3650 the only thing they changed was the trans oil! other than that no word on a fix from ford manufactures yet!

FWIW, I have an '08 with 3k on it and it's had a 3rd gear grind when cold since day one.
I need to take the MGW out and bring it in for service. I don't want to risk them blaming it on the MGW.

Well to me it looks pretty logical:
5 speeds from 05 - 07 do not have this problem.
5 speeds from 08 have this problem.
The only change to the transmission in 08 was the transmission oil.
Therefore, the oil is very likely the suspect.

Mine did it going into second and sometimes into third. I have an 06 GT... at about 2500 miles, I took it to the dealer and had the service manager drive with me, cause they "couldn't duplicate the problem" and it grinded going into second. I asked if he heard it and he agreed that it DID grind... They called me to pick up the car and the fix was????? Could not duplicate the problem.... To this day it still grinds in second and sometimes in third... the car has 45000 miles on it now, but it can take a pretty good beatin though.
Good luck man... Ha, ha, ha I HATE Ford's service F*** 'em. I'll never by another new Ford again simply because of their service.

Ford manufacture wants to change the tran oil and see what happens the field engineer when over the procedure with the service manager on how he wants it dont and as soon as they do it ill let yall know what happened! u figure they would speed the process up as soon as its not grinding im get around 10 Gs worth of parts from them! i know i would hurry up if 10 Gs where on the line!

Mine does it when its really cold and only on the first time going into 3rd. Not to concerned unless it goes on more or in all gears.

the manufacture think it the problem comes from the tran oil being to full the instructed the service manager how to do the new process they did it to day its like 40 out side no grinding yet! so that what might have caused it and just to let yall all know there is a recall i dont know if its with all the 08s or just the gtsmy RCM module had to be reprogramed as there is a recall to reprogam them!
