penalties for no cats in FL?
hey guys..
just wondering.. i want to delete my cats, or get an offroad H.. and run it through stock mufflers for a while, (i also have cutouts, so i could open them for straight headers)..
but my question is, what kind of fines, penalties, etc.. can i get if i got pulled over for some reason and having no cats.. what can i expect?
NOTE: only in florida!.. (we dont have inspections)

about the only time a cop is gonna take the time to run a compliance check is if you are street racing or at a street racing event. Most cops don't have the training to understand all the codes on emissions inspections. There are more important laws to enforce. JMO ( and I am a Cop)

Since we don't have inspections in Florida, I would think the only way you would run into any problems would be for a noise violation if it was too loud, which wouldn't be the case anyway.

DeStonn.. where do you work?.. and i agree about the street racing, or being there and them checking.. that makes perfect sence.. but since i dont do that stuff.. i mean i might play with another stang driving next to me.. or something liek that.. but i dont exactly street race them..
and about the noise violation.. i will run be running the cutouts open sometimes, which would be straight headers, but not always, and i could close them if a cop was next to/behind me..

Just remember it is a Federal law, not a State law,to remove Cats from any car and operate it on public roads. Now that being said, I ran the off-road xpipe on my 93 all the years I lived in Fla.

RE: penalties for no cats in FL?
I had an offroad prochamber on my 99 GT for 5 years in FL with no problems. I did get a few tickets for the exhaust being too loud though. I even traded that car to a dealership. I just told them it had no cats and they took it no prob.
I would say you are fine, no one is crawling under your car to look.
Get what you want.

thanks for the advice..
it honestly all depends on what my step dad says, if he says i can get something thats not too loud, then ill get a off road H.. instead of just axle backs (bc my cutouts are basically that, and are getting old, not loud enough)..
does any body know if they make a H with High Flow cats, or a mid pipe wiht the cats near the H instead of right up next to the manifold?
