Decided to try a touch of a retro look...
So I went out yesterday to the local WalMart, and was wandering through the aisles picking up car wax (finally ran out of NXT Tech Wax, so I figured I'd try the new NXT 2.0) and I saw these DupliColor Tire Pens. They had white, red, and yellow, and I remembered seeing my dad's '69 fastback with raised white lettering on it. I thought, "What the heck, can't make it look any WORSE, right?"
Well, I did it over 2 days (took freakin' FOREVER to do it; I had to sit on the driveway, roll the car forward & back so that I could get to where I could put the paint on the side of the tire) and I like it! It looks great unless you get RIGHT up on it (like say, a foot away) and then you can see that it's paint that's been dabbed on. It's kind of a thick latex paint, which should be good to last a while on the car. I'm thinking it'll last a while on the tires, and I'd like to keep it on at least until after Fab Fords in 3 weeks...
Here's some pics showing it off (as well as some pics of the NXT 2.0 on the car):
I know that there's a little bit of runoff from tire cleaner on the tire in the first picture, but I wanted to make sure that the paint had dried fully before I went and started spraying tire dressing on the tire. I know I'm probably going to open myself up to some flaming from some people who'll say that it's a pointless mod, but hey, if I like it, and it doesn't look like I've got a 30 ft. high rice wing on the back of my car, I think it's ok! Besides, I'm trying to get a touch of that retro look without being TOO retro, if that makes sense.

I've never seen an S197 with white letters, real or otherwise. It looks good, works well with your wheels.
As for high lighting the tire size, I think you almost need to. If you dont all the white lettering would be on one side of the tire. The way it is now looks balanced almost OEM.

OK, interesting and I think it looks good. Although I do not think the stock tires lend themselves to this one. Next time, consider just removing the tire to take care of all nucks and crannies...
