Getting an 06 GT.. some thoughts needed
OK well basically im 17 and looking to get an 06 GT. i have 12,000 from my car i just sold and have 7,000 in the bank. Now the tricky part, my dad thinks the Gt "will be to much for me and i can only get a v6".. I do not live with my dad except for in the summer and he wanted to buy the car while i was there. Now I need a way to be able to just wait out the summer and get the car when I'm home without him thinking anything strange... Sorry this may be a bit weird but i just want everything to work out smoothly.
Thanks, Lee

Sounds like your dad is cosigning the loan and has a major say in what you get. Consider this: the V6 is a damn fine car and has plenty of power to put a smile on your face. I understand your need to have the most power possible but being that your only 17 you have time to do what you want later in life.
Either car can get you in trouble real fast if you are not careful. Being a rear-wheel drive sports car unto itself is enough to cause new drivers problems (ego driving aside) if they don't understand what the car/driver can do and where the line is. That said, it comes down to how well your dad thinks you can handle the additional power. Being a dad myself, I can understand his need to meet you half-way. He is simply trying to not see you get killed in a car you can't handle.
Just be happy you have a father that takes the time to help you get a very nice ride and don't worry about getting the "best" until you get older. Just my 2 cents...
