Drove the GT in the snow today...
...and it performed flawlessly.
My daily driver (C5 Corvette) is in the shop with a transmission leak, so I've switched to my Mustang for a while. Well, this car never sees rain or snow at all. Unfortunately, today I was visiting some friends when a surprise snow storm hit.
I was forced to drive about 45 miles on only partially plowed roads and some stretches weren't plowed at all. The snow wasn't deep, but it was sticking quite well to the pavement. Conditions were pretty slick, and, as a matter of fact, I pasted multiple accidents along the way. It's a little odd when you're driving your RWD muscle car in the snow with no problems and you pass a compact FWD model that's run into the ditch...
I'm happy to report that my Mustang performed just fine in the snow, even climbing some steep hills. I didn't have a single problem with the car at all. Now, of course, I was driving very slowly, doing about 45 mph in a 60 mph zone, even passing a few trucks and SUV's along the way.
Sure this car is no off roader and probably wouldn't do well in deep snow. Still, it definitely exceeded my expectations.
I was considering some summer tires for this car, but that's no longer on the table. Luckily I still had the stock all season tires, otherwise, I would have never made it home.

About 20 years ago, I drove my 82 GT to a private residence to do some painting in the basement. I walked up the stairs and realized there was a blizzard outside. Thank god one of the neighbors had a 4x4 with a winch and was able to pull me up the driveway. On my way home, I was driving like 30 mph in a 55 zone, pissing everybody off. Approx every few thosand feet there was another 4x4 that had slid off of the road. Some people just don't understand that with a 4x4 you will slide off of a slick road, just as fast as if you were in a two wheel drive vehicle.
