It looks like this thread is a little out of date but I have been wanting to do this to my car for awhile now.

I have a water jet at work that can cut 1/2" thick aluminum or steel no problem, maybe even larger thicknesses than that. If someone could come up with some dimensions I could potentially make them.

I am going to try and dimension and 3D print one out of plastic and see how it fits. IF ANYONE IS STILL INTERESTED IN THIS, I WOULD LIKE TO WORK WITH SOMEBODY AS WE PROGRESS THROUGH TRIALS.

This isn't dimensioned correctly but just a basic idea of what it would look like.

Like I said I could make these relatively easy if we could get some dimensions set. If we can get multiple people to come up with tolerances and stuff I'll see if I can get some made and try them out. I could possibly ship them at a later time as well.

I could also as lead-ins for quick shifting from 2nd to 3rd or 4th to 5th.

That is the kind of lead-in you'd use for the 3-4 to 5-R gate, and maybe with only the upper portion full-width between the 1-2 and 3-4. You'd need half-width lead-ins to facilitate downshifts as well as the more dragstrip-oriented upshift-assisting configuration shown.

There is the matter of how big to make the lead-ins, and what (if anything) to do about the way the OE shifters and most aftermarket replacements are supported (partly at the transmission, partly by the body) and the relative movement between the two.

I could be completely wrong, but awhile ago, I took measurements of where the stick was in each gear along with the thickness of the shift handle and if the gate was flush with the console, there would be little to no fingers in between gears. so I think you would also need a different shifter that gave the stick wider separation as well as a thinner stick.

I think it would be cool to have, but I think that if it was easy, it would have already been done.
