4.10......

i guess nothing other than weight if one were to assume his rolling radius is the same as stock. those would be some pretty skinny tires and everyone who ive come across usually doesnt go that route with 20s and they end up raising their final drive ratio with the bigger rim.
guess it would help if i new the tire size, perhaps i spoke too soon.

i was gunna say the same thing...... but ever since I joined this site has had a thing with big gears on autos, little gears on manuals.......... not really sure what the reasoning is anymore. I just didnt feel like having people jump down my throat for dissenting lol

Here's the skinny on why in the PAST you'd want the 4.10 for auto and 3.73 for manual.
In the past when the Manuals were 5 gears and the autos were 4 gears you would need the 4.10 to help kick you the car in the butt because the gears were spread out further in the auto.
These days, that's not the issue and in fact a 4.10 gear in an auto is really ridiculous. The fact is that the 1st gear in the Auto is actually shorter than that of the manual. Why? to give it the same oomph off the line as 5 spd manual by making up some of the added drive train loss. Thus both the 5spd auto and manual, all things being equal, will reach 0-60mph at the same time and post within a hair of each other in the 1/4
Below is the break down for the 5sp manual and auto tranny gears.
Manual \\\ Automatic 5RSS
1st Gear 3.750:1 \\\ 1st Gear 3.250:1
2nd Gear 2.190:1 \\\ 2nd Gear 2.440:1
3rd Gear 1.410:1 \\\ 3rd Gear 1.550:1
4th Gear 1.000:1 \\\ 4th Gear 1.000:1
5th Gear 0.720:1 \\\ 5th Gear 0.750:1
Reverse 3.150:1 \\\ Reverse 3.070:1

I love the 410 in my 05 gt coupe i have also had 430, wait now this is where it get's good i took my car to two well known gear changers the firs one put in the frp 410 they howeled like crazy on the coast side, they redid them and they got worse refunded parts and labor ok, on i go to shop two they put in motive 430 ok now howl on coast side but noisey on drive side ok then they said that motive told them that the od size ratio's will be noesey (390-430) ok so they got 410 motive and that motive makes the frp 410 for them ok so 410 goes in and same result noisey on the drive side ,that was nov and now they are goinr to put in yet another set in the spring and back to the frp 410 so good luck.

Best price on Ring and Pinions
www.buyfordracing.com
$150 with free shipping for 4.10's. And these are Genuine Ford Racing parts, not Motive.
I love my 4.10s! I can't believe the car didn't come geared that way, and I had optioned the 3.55 gears on. I'm still way happier with the 4.10s
