Default ordered new BFG drag radial 2's **updates on track results, page 2**

**********updates on track results and tire pics, page 2**********

so i just ordered some BFG drag radial 2's for the stang today. they call them "drag radial 2's" because they changed the tread pattern. they dont make the original drag radial in a 275 size for a 17" wheel, it goes from 225 series to 315 series. so i will give these a try. i'm pretty excited to get them on, because open track night is friday!! (no rain please!!) i ordered 2 - 275/40/17 drag radials for my stock wheels (17x8 bullits). i'm fairly confident that they will fit, because brenspeed sells a mickey thompson tire package they say fits great, and the tires are 26x11.5x17 and they sell them on stock 17x8 bullits. that tire size converted to metric is 192/39/17 (rounding up here would be 195/40/17) and if they can run that on a stock wheel, i should have no issues with the 275/40/17's for sure.

here's a link to check out the tires. i think they give that perfect old school "sleeper" look!
275/40/17 BFG Drag Radial 2's

i've read a ton of great reviews on these, but if someone out there has these, please chime in.

They should fit. Nitto 555 275/40/17 drag radials fit the 17x8 rims as well as M&H 275/50/17

thanks, thats good to know. i wanted a bigger sidewall, but the 275/40/17 was the best option for contact patch and sidewall.

I personally would have went with M&H, but I BFG should stick better than the Nittos and a hell of alot better than street tires.

ive never had the stang dyno'd, but i see people with similar mods getting 310-320hp to the tires, and i figure they ought to be good enough to hook up with those #'s. a few of the reviews i read were from people claiming 1.5 - 1.6 second 60' times, so they ought to be plenty sticky for my mild bolt-on stang.

m&h tires would have been cool as well, but there was no way i could have them or mickey's by friday, so bfg's it is.

Thanks, i dont have one yet. i ran the 1/8 at irwindale last year and the best i had was a 9.12 when i was stock. i know thats pretty slow, but the car was stock, the track was garbage, no traction at all in 1st and 2nd, i had to feather it to get it to hook up. and thats when it was stock. so hopefully the drag radials will help out in that area.

so i have high hopes for the stang tomorrow night! i am hoping to break into the high 12's. i think it's possible with my setup, but i have never had drag radials before. maybe i will do a few practice launches before i get there. i am going to ditch the spare tire/jack for the night, remove the front sway bar, and have minimal fuel (1/4 tank), and look for other little "temporary" things i can do and still pass tech inspection. any recomendations? is running at 1/4 tank beneficial as opposed to running a full tank?

edit; and i'm planning on running the tires at 20psi. BFG says 18-24 psi is good.

Man, I love your intiative and wanting to break into the 12's... that was my project when I bought the stang.

I have this dream of making my car not only steetable on a daily basis but also a 12 second car, which i (like to) think it is now. I just can't imagine putting different wheels, etc on my car to run a certain ET and then posting it up like I can run that on the street. The f-body crowd really pisses me off in that respect .

you may just run a sub-13 second 1/4 on tires/cai/catback alone. keep us updated bro!
