that part is per Ford.
I'm still confused, how do you know if it's full or not?

Is this a tuff install and do you have any ground clearance issues?

1. I put the same amount back in that came out....

2. the drain plug is a small pipe, if you over fill it the excess will run out the pipe...

no prob!

this was one job that I felt needed to be done, either this way , or paying some one to flush it.
but after time the Fluid does break down.
so new fluid is always a good thing.

The pa pan has plenty of clearance, The only problem I had was the the dipstick, I had to bend the tube with a bender to get it to clear.

Ford also advises to check the fluid level with the engine running and trans up to temp. Once there you just pump fluid in until it comes back out the fill hole. Also the gasket has "Reusable" stamped in it.

Personnally, I just installed a dipstick into the stock pan while I had it out and filled through it.
