What are "resonators" and where do they go in the exhaust system? Also, where can I get them?

When i went to the O/R X with my GTA's it sounded terrible. I bought a pair of Dynomax race bullets and installed them under the car in conjunction with the GTA's. It sounded pretty nice.

I think this might be the only video I have of that setup.

Now I have the O/R X and 24" red bullets under the car with no tailpipes. It sounds good but is pretty loud.

one thing that you might want check.tap on the rear of the body right behind the mufflers and see if it touches the mufflers.when i changed my my h pipe i had noise that i never heard before.the mufflers were to close to the rear and at certain rpms the mufflers would vibrate against the body.

Resonators are just a straight thru muffler, like a glass pack. I have 18" Hedman Hedders glass packs. I bought them because the price was right. Have a shop weld them into the exhaust before the axle.

Wont really affect the loudness at all but it will change the tone.

so do they replace my mufflers or do I keep the axle backs and just add the resonators?

The best way is process of elimination. The easiest and cheapest is to throw on your stock mufflers and see if you get that rzattly type sound. Dont underestimate your stock mufflers either. They sound amazing when you run stock mufflers with O/R H or X.

You keep everything you have now.

My exhaust is as follows.

Stock headers, Pypes O/R H completely welded, 18 resonators, pypes violators.

The car sounds amazing with the windows down, but the highway drone of the violators is starting to wear on me. I am contemplating a set of Ford "Bullitt" mufflers.

I think they will sound good with an O/R H but I would really like a chance to try them out before I drop more money on exhaust.

Where did you get the resonators from?
