Default 2006 Mustang Short Throw Shifter

I have been looking at getting a short throw shifter for my 2006 GT and have heard good things about both pro 5.0 and mgw shifters, but have no idea which is better or what to get. Does anyone have any advice on what the best shifter is? I also want to avoid dropping my drive shaft to install it, is this required for all shifters? Thanks for the help!

I have heard nothing but good things about the MGW, but I do like my Pro5.0. It is a bit notchy, but that's what I like along with being able to run a chrome Hurst handle/**** for that retro look. Although I was able to install mine without dropping the DS, it was a tight fit and took a look of repositioning to final get it fully through the tunnel hole.

It looks like I am gonna go with the MGW, does anyone know where I can buy it from other than MGW themselves. I am trying to either find a better price or atleast avoid having to pay shipping. Thanks a lot for all of the help!

The best shifter is all a personal preference. MGW probably has the best "quality" shifter, but that doesn't translate to what everyone likes the best. Personally I really like the look and feel of my Hurst. Although I haven't tried an MGW I'm not sure I would want the car any other way then it is now.

I like my Pro 5.0, but I got it used for a good price. If I were buying brand new, I'd go with MGW. To install mine I did unbolt the drive shaft from the transmission because it did not look easy if I left it bolted up. It was 4 extra bolts but it certainly made it a lot easier to maneuver in there.
