First Maintenance

First Maintenance
I bought my 2009 Mustang GT (Manual tranny with 3.55 gears and LSD) at the end of march and I was wondering when I should bring it in for the first maintenance. The dealership didn't say anything and the manual starts at 5,000 miles (which seems kind of wack).
I currently am sitting around 1100-1200 miles since it has been my weekend car (I don't want to subject it to chicago commute yet)
When should I bring it in for the first maintenance?
What should I have done for the first maintenance?
If I need any fluids changed, what would you suggest (or should I just go by the ones it lists in the manual?)
Thanks

You should have the oil and filter changed every six months or every 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. At least that's what it was for the '07.
I would stick with the Motorcraft Synthetic Blend, which is what the factory uses (except for the GT500 and maybe some other special models). If you feel as though you want to go with full synthetic, I would wait until 10,000 miles or so. There needs to be a slight amount of friction when the engine is new to allow the rings to seat properly. The only time you should use full synthetic on a new car is if that was the factory fill. That's my opinion. Others may not agree.

Personally, I've always done the first oil change within the first 1000 miles (500 if I have time). No dealership or shop has ever questioned it or provided a factual reason not to. My reason is that if there are any particles from the production of the engine floating around or other garbage, I want to get rid of them.
As far as additives in the oil from the OEM. There are none, other than assembly lube and those are gone in less than a few miles from the parts.
