I'm interested in giving my GT a more exotic exhaust note. I like the refined sound of the VQ35's (350Zs) and so on. I'd like the motor to be a bit tighter sounding, perhaps more baritone than bass.
Ive herd some 6 cyl sounds like the VQ motor found in the 350's. May be you should get a 6 cyl. I dont think there much you can do about having an american v-8 not sound like a v-8. The main reason i didn't get a 350/STI was the rumble of the v-8 that nothing can compare too it. Add a cam and enjoy owning an AMERICAN MUSCLE car
you should get a jap car then or get some ricer mufflers and see what that does sounds wise
I don't want a "Jap" car. I've owned about 7-8 Hondas. Also, the term "Jap" is pretty racist.
I'd just like a more sophisticated sound from my motor. The V8 M5's sound fantastic. I hate to use this as an example, but the sound of a F355 is wonderful. I don't expect to copy that sound, but to add a bit of its tone would be nice.

I think it would be difficult if not impossible to replicate a F355 or even a BMW M5 since both of those engines are DOHC engines that redline in the 7000-8000 RPM range.
If you want exotic, get a set of Corsa Etreme's with a catted x pipe... makes the car sound more like a european v8 as opposed to an american v8, if that makes sense

That was going to be my recommendation. But just like our 3V 4.6L V8's will never sound like an old school muscle car they'll never sound like an exotic either. Here's a short video of mine with Corsa Xtremes and a Bassani X pipe.
