Default Painting the whipple compressor

does anyone know how hot the whipple compressor itself gets?(its not installed yet) Im trying to have a shop paint the compressor the same color as my car. Could i use regular paint, or do i HAVE to use high temp paint. Any input would be great.

i don't know for sure but i would guess
around 150* F. you have to also
consider worst case scenario's, like
if there was a problem with the engine
or I.C. cooling system.

I've seen quite a few of them painted at car shows. I don't know if they used hi temp paint or not, but it couldn't cost much more to use it anyways. Hope to see pics when you're done.

look at the engine paint at most parts stores. they are rated for I think 250F. I've used them for many many years on the blocks and never had a problem.

You engine will at least get to 190F (thermostat setting), and the inner surfaces will reach 200-220 easily around the cylinders.

since your blower is relatively seperated from the engine itself by the upper intake, you will see significantly lower temperatures. but that will be offset by the blower itself since they can produce up to 150F temps themselves from the compression action.

I'd ask your paint shop what their "normal" paint is spec'd out to. If at least 200F...just use the normal stuff. Engine paint doesn't quite have the same luster and look that a normal body paint will

thanks all for your input. Most def will post pics when installed. engine paint usually does not look as nice as normal paint which is why i wanted to go that route. Once again, thanks all!

i had a local decal shop do them for me. they are a well known decal shop and they only charged me 60 bucks for installation and material. I have it on both fenders.

have you considered moving those fender stripes backwards just a tiny bit.

have them lined up & integrated with the Saleen door graphic...that would look pretty sweet IMO. right now they look good, but seem kind of lost.

btw, that is a very nice looking Stang

Nver considered that. I always thought they were in a perfect spot. Its a bad angle from the pic in my sig. Maybe these will look better. and thanks for the compliment!
