That is a common problem that many people have cited when doing this mod. I have read about it on many forums. There are two ways to deal with it: 1-Live with the dim glow. It is minor and from what I have read will not kill the battery. 2- Install a resistor and that takes care of shutting them down completely. I don't know how familiar you are with electronics, but maybe someone at Radio Shack can suggest what to use.

Yeah that's normal - just the way Ford wired things. They draw very little power and definitely won't drain your battery.

Do you find that the dome lights are too bright? I think the light is more useful now.

Thanks for the info chronos and AJ. I think the LED's are an improvement but it will bug me no end to have them glowing all the time.

Anyone who wants them and will paypal me the actual shipping cost to them can have them. Merry Christmas! PM me.

Hmm... I'm sort of with W-Dog on this; although a nifty mod, the mere fact that they remain somewhat dimly lit would nag at me.

How dimly lit is "dim"? (If you can put it into words.)

I've received the bulbs, but haven't opened the little electrostatic pouch yet.

You can easily see it shine in the chrome surround on the gearshift or even in your hand held out above the shifter. But this was in my totally dark garage under "why is it doing that" level scrutiny. You might not notice it when driving but just going out to my garage and getting in with lights on that aren't supposed to be kills it for me.

The license plate lights are excellent though.

I don't notice it at all. It's like 3% brightness.

I'm surprised this doesn't bug you, AJ.

Then again, if you don't notice it ...

Talk to the folks at Radio Shack or do a Google search for what to do to shut it down. If you really like the mod, all you have to do is add an in line resistor and you'll be all set, it's not that hard. I just can't remember where I read it and what resistor they said they used to fix it. I read a lot of stuff just for informations sake but can't always remember where I got it.
