Default Why are blowers such a ripoff?

Why is it you can get a whipple for a 4.6L 04 terminator and only pay $3500 but you'll pay over $5500 easy for a whipple on the s197?

Seems like a serious rape in the butt to me. So what gives?

Correct me if im wrong but sense the termi is already supercharged, i believe it doesn't need fuel pump, plugs, rails, oil reservoir, and other misc stuff that you would need if bolting it to a stock n/a car.. The whipple kit most likely comes with everything you need to help the car support the horsepower increase.

$6800 and change for the Whipple from lethal. Yes you can get it for a little bit less than that if you try hard. Who cares.

$3300 for a fuel pump, plugs, rails?

well theirs more than what I listed, Need injectors to. But alot of things factor the price, especially if its a intercooled system. Brenspeed has some supercharger kits that are like $3800. Just shop around. After bolt ons, not alot more you can do to add hp, and hp is expensive.

I'm just curious what the reason is that they charge so much for these newer cars. I realize there are additional parts to the kits which does add some to the price. But $3300? Yikes.

supply and demand, I thought by now the prices for a s/c would have come down for a 05 or 06 Mustang.

Ahhhh, Rip, reading my mind again!
My guess is the demand is still high for s197 kits, so everyone can get away with carrying a kit at $5K. I'm hoping prices for ours will drop as more set-ups for the 2010+ hit the market and more of those cars hit the streets....

Add these parts up:

Intercooler, heat exchanger, GT500 pumps with wiring and FPDM, 39lb injectors, CUSTOM manifold, CUSTOM water crossover, CUSTOM low profile fuel rail psi sensor adapter, HT0 plugs, Gates 147 belt, Idler pulley, misc hoses, thermostat.

I can ballpark $2300 without adding in the custom manifold, crossover, and fuel rail adapter.

You don't need a custom manifold for the terminator's whipple? Some of the stuff you listed is also cheap as hell.
