Hood shake is very common but nobody has stated they've lost a hood yet despite the # of folks that have run up over 120 MPH with the hood shaking. You can try adjusting the bump stops about 1/4 turn at a time (worked pretty much for me up to 130 MPH). There has also been some talk about adding a strip of insulation tape on top of each headlight assembly to help reduce the amount of air getting under the hood lip. But when it's all said and done, functional hood pins are the way to go.

on my car the rubber bumper midway up the finder was not close to bearing on the hood on the drivers side. I took some washers and put them under the 3 fender bolts, this raised it slightly enough to get rid of my hood shake.

Thats impossable.
The Aluminum hood couldnt deflect 1" without taking a set
resulting in a damaged bent hood.

Get some hood pins and call it good.

that's weird, I get a lot of shaking at high speeds, but never any lift, just get yourself some of the latch-style hood pins and that b**** won't be going nowhere!

First thing is to adjust your hood bump stops, there are 4 of them and they all must be adjusted equally so as to apply equal pressure across the hood. When you close your hood it should be a little hard to latch when you have them adjusted correctly. This should stop or reduce any shaking.

our hoods are just plagued with "hood float" my stock hood wouldnt budge even at 115 mph. but when i got my aftermarket hood it would float at 70 mph. it varies from mustang to mustang. before i had my hood pins at high speeds it looked like somebody was in the engine bay punching up on the hood from the inside, you could actually see the fiberglass make waves and bend from the wind. if you get hood pins, you will never have to worry about hood float again. now it looks like my mustang was cemented to the body, no movement at all

my 2008 did not have that problem untill a replacement hood was installed after collision damage. At 75mph on I-95 I hit a 20mph + head wind and driver side middle lifted 2". I pulled off to check for obvious unlatch but could find no problems. At next gas stop after continuing to watch the hood lift I found an issue. The inner and outer panels of the hood are not bonded, welded, or crimped tight enough (steel hoods are spot welded don't how these aluminum hoods are done) so they slide on each other and do not offer support to each other as they should. Its like two seperate loose panels not one structual unit. Now to get Progressive to replace it is the task>

I still get some flutter in the rear of the hood at 75+ even with hood pins.

Mine seems to lift/flex a bit but only at above 100 and on a REALLY windy day. I wouldnt worry too much cause you have the latch in the front. If its a concern get hood pins... be careful on which though.
