Default Mustang won't start, padlock flashing...help needed.

Need your help guys.

Ok, I think somehow I have activated the PTDS on my 06 Mustang. I went on vacation for a week, went to get in the car, and the thing won't start. The key fob no longer locks or unlocks the car, and the only thing that makes me think it is not the battery is that there is a light on the dash flashing a padlock. (normally it flashes security)

I read a post that says "If PTDS activates, try your other key." I only have 1 key, though, having bought the car used as the 3rd or 4th owner.

Short of having the car pushed out of my own garage and towed to the dealer, do I have any options to fix this myself?

gotta get under the hood to disconnect the battery. you can't even open the doors/get in the car??
I could have sworn I saw some posts about the battery running down when in storage or not starting the car for a week or two...

My wife once grabbed the wrong keys and put my Mustang key in the Explorer and tried to start the truck. It went into a security mode and had to be towed to the dealership where they reset it. Hopefully that's not your issue because that cost me some bucks. I can't remember what light was flashing on the dash.

on your driver side door there is a slot for your 'ignition key' if that is the orginal key for the car, it will unlock the door, and it should start your car, your cars battery might be low enough that the security lock 'padlock' is flashing but nothing else might work. you might need either a jump/push start or a new battery.

Well? Any resolution yet? We're curious... Especially since the OE batteries are typically garbage.

Well after having the battery charged and it dropped off again, I decided to get a new one. It has started up 3 mornings in a row.

So this problem is solved... for now. Apparently it wasn't a PDTS issue after all. Good thing, cause I priced a 2nd key and it would cost more than the new battery!

Update:

New battery is drained !

Good grief.

I've read in other posts that this is a common problem in our mustangs, so today I bought the trickle charger.
