Default Mustang and Salt

Hello Everyone,

So now that it is starting to snow in my area I worry about loosing traction on my tires. I know Mustangs are infamous for that. My question is, does salt bags in the back really help? I can't seem to see how an extra 100lbs. in the trunk really makes a difference in a 3500lb. car.

Any thoughts?

A little extra weight over the rear tires; be it salt, sand or feathers; will provide a little more bite on a RWD vehicle. Because most rear ends are so light compared to the weight up front, the rear tread tends to "float" on top of the snow. I'd probably go with about 150# of feathers.

I would love to see the plumage of the rear ended mustang full of feathers!

You really do NOT want to store salt in your trunk, Salt = corrosion = mess

Go with the feathers, or better yet...sand.

Snow tires work 100 times better than sand, and help you stop and turn, too.

Definently go with the sand over salt. But snow tires trump both IF you have the spare cash around.

Yeah I have snow tires and don't add any weight to my rear end (it's fat enough!)
