Default Sirius radio install help

My dealer is so full of crap. I bought the Deluxe, not the premium, to save money. During the sale, I noted the window sticker said radio was Sat radio capable. But I could never find the ESN. Called Sirius, they said to go to dealer. Dealer said to call Sirius. Finally sales guy took me to service Dept. After 2 weeks and not returning my calls, they say I need the Sat module and antenna. Service dude said module was about $300 and install about $200,
He did mention they get the module from Hughes something or other in Charlotte. Im thinking of either going there, or getting the radio from there and installing myself. Does anyone know of this Hughes place? I had no luck with Google search. Anyone have any info to help me with this project?

Hughes wont be able to load the as built data.
You are at the mercy of the dealership.
Look and see if you have the module and antenna.
Module is in the right side of the trunk area.
Antenna is on the trunk lid and looks like a hocky puck of sorts.
No antenna, no sat module.
The ESN is on the module if you can find it...

A SAT ready radio means the radio can be 'UPGRADED' to SAT reception.
Not that it is currently capable of SAT reception.

Thanks--I had forgotten the module was in the trunk. It was there in my 07. So, I dont have to mount it in the dash!! Well, I dont have the module or antenna--I know that. But are you saying Hughes wont sell to me? Seems I could figure out how to install if I had installaton data...

Hughes might sell directly to you but whom will
do the install and configure the modules with
the proper 'as built data' ?
Its not a plug and play install.

YOU gonna drill the hole in the trunk for an OEM sat antenna??

Satellite antenna
List Price : $70.67
Your Price : $56.54

WOW thats expensive.
I could only guess what a receiver would run you.
And then the needed Dealer programming.
Might as well just go the tried and true Dealer
route for the $500 cost.
If you do find a receiver, be sure that
it has a clean account with the SAT provider
before buying....

Not to go off topic, but if you already have a subscribed portable sat receiver you're better off feeding into the Aux Input of a capable HU and install the sat antenna yourself. I have a portable unit in my SUV and it often goes with me on picnics and in the house where I have a docking station, antenna and power source. Just feed it into a boom box, home theater or whatever.

I've added Sirius to 4 different cars now, of varying makes, and in every case all I had to do was buy the "brain" and antenna (usually off eBay from a dealer parts dept was the cheapest), and then install it myself.
