Default Rear bumper cover not lining up

Hey does anyone know if there is a way to shim the rear bumper cover on our cars. I finally got my car back from the body shop and I am not happy with the way the rear bumper cover is sitting near the tail lights. Part of the bumper is not flush with the quarter panel and the body shop is telling me there is no way to shim it. I am arguing that there has to be some way as no other mustang on the lot has a bumper sitting the way mine is. (2nd bumper they have had to replace by the way as the first one was defective.). The body gaps line up fine except right next to the lights. The bumper cover sits in a bit causing a lip which is irritating as hell. Any help you guys can provide would be great as the service manager at the shop seems to think this is normal even though I walked him by 6 different cars. I really just want my car back to normal and to put this crappy month behind me. I want to start focusing on getting ready for Mustang Week.

It seems it is getting better with the weather a bit nicer here in SC but its only slowly moving back now. I am hoping it keeps going. If not it's going back to the body shop.

Was your bumper cover repaired, or replaced?

My Ford Accessories GT/CS rear bumper is like that too.

I think Pascal had some advice on how to fix it.

I still have to take mine apart to see what's going on. I got it back from the body shop like that, and I figured I'd rather deal with it myself than let them mess with it.

Is this OEM or replacement part? My body shop had a replacement (refurbished) rear GT bumper and it didn't fit right. They want to get the insurance to go for the OEM instead.

Yeah, that is why I asked if the cover was replaced or repaired. With it being a fairly new Mustang, I would demand an Oem replacement if it had to be replaced. For this guys situation, I think it would be best for him to deal with his insurance company directly since it seems he is getting nowhere with the body shop.
