Default 07 Mustang won't shift into park.

So this started happening last night. Whenever I try to shift into Park, I have to jam it up with all force. If I don't use all force, it gets stuck between Park and Reverse, and obviously I can't shut the car off and take out the key.

I have an 07' Automatic. Whenever I shift down it doesn't feel right either.

I'm taking it by Ford tomorrow, but what do you guys think the problem is?

sounds like your cable from your shifter down to your transmission is broken. I forget what is called but i have had it happen before. Not that big of a problem as long as thats it and not something else. Could be completely wrong though. Not even sure that the AT mustangs use a cable.

Sounds like the cable is off a little bit. Hopefully just an adjustment at the linkage is needed. Hopefully not an adjustment inside the trans.

Hopefully. I just called Ford and set up an appointment for tomorrow.

Another weird issue i've had, is that for the past 4 months, whenever I start the car, I get a loud knocking sound coming from the dash. Any idea what that could be? It only lasts about 3-4 seconds.

The shifter is electronic I believe but there is a cable that connects the two. as for the knock is it loud enough to record on your cell phone video? Where exactly is it coming from? Have someone else start your car and you stand in front with the hood open to figure out if its coming from the engine.

Yeah, it's pretty loud. I've had someone start the car for me, shut the doors, and I can stand outside the car and hear it. It's a minor annoyance, and it doesn't seem to affect anything.

I can take a video later today, but I'm at work at the moment.

Sounds like the same thing the OP of the thread above had. Turned out to be a bad blend door actuator.

Turns out it's probably going to be a Shift linkage cable that's gone bad/out of place. The cable itself from Ford is $45, and it's about a hour install time, according to their service.

Could be worse I guess.
