DROVE A NEW 2011 5.0 TONIGHT!!!!!!!
#33
My current car is nearly paid for and I'm itching for a new 5.0. My conservative side says to wait and prices to drop...see how much s/c prices on the 05-10's drop then make my decision. The new cars are so damn expensive. $40k is too much for a base GT IMO. I'm waiting and watching, see how much power they can safely produce under boost etc.
I'd love a new 5.0 with 3.73's, intake, cat-back and coilover suspension. This time I'll let the dealer install everything and drive it off the lot that way. Then again, at $40k base price it will be difficult to swing.

You'll lose a bit more over the manual but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Not sure if the 11' retained the 5R55S auto trans but it was a great transmission. A good auto with correct stall setup will beat a manual every time on the (drag race) track. I'm more into road course/daily driving and just like to row the gears myself otherwise I'd have an auto in a heartbeat.

But I saw a dyno sheet recently comparing the 5.0 auto & manual and I think the auto was about -30ish rwhp. But in a straight line, I'd take a well-tuned auto over a manual

I have a 2011 GT Premium with an auto tranny, security package, and a racing stripe for $33K even. A base GT I hear can be had for between $28K and $30K if you look in the right places.
