from a pure driver standpoint, id take the 5.0 6 speed, much, much smoother than the GT500 as far as shifting goes.

This is what I'm talking about! I hear the harness is $1500... or the computer, or some other crap who knows. Though I want to get the block and build it up with aftermarket parts, same with heads, etc.. Hopefully that'll be a cheaper route than buying this crate engine, only to take it apart and do all the things I want to do.

Yeah in the end building up our 4.6 with FI would prolly be cheaper.

I wonder what a Ford dealer would charge to install the engine.

Of course, it's a dumb move to even dream about that. Why do you think you don't see any S197's with the 32valve 4.6 from a Cobra? I enquired about that swap with Lidio for mine and he just drew a big breath and waved the job away. The amount of reworking involved is just insane, and that motor has essentially the same block and general layout !

You'll get some shop do the job one day and post it all up on Youtube, just to prove it can be done, but it can't possibly be an economic venture. For a fraction of the money it would cost to buy it and all required ancillaries you could have a fully built and blown 4.6 based motor, why would anyone even bother to make the switch.

Now, where's that thread about installing a Dodge/Cummins diesel motor.........
