With that being said if you have any desire for a blower than build or have a motor built for that otherwise you are never going to be happy with the NA motor.

If I were you I'd take a regular 281 and have it built for by a good builder. They will lay out everything that needs to be done for what you are trying to achieve.

I doubt any of that can be done for around 10k, I have that invested now with no built bottom end just with the blower and other stuff to support it.

Hopefully if your are building a motor with over 600hp it's mainly for the track because over 600 on the street is pretty useless because at some point around there traction becomes a major problem on street tires and roads.

agreed.
besides having 700 rwhp, whats your goals for the track?
personally i am aiming for mid 500 rwhp with a built short block and more boost and run it on pump gas. i dont think you can use 600+ hp on the street.

How about the Shadrach Mustang Boss engine option http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Sh...04282669606742 and www.aera.org/ep/downloads/ep8/EPQ409_8-12.pdf

Its in my price range, and hp range. Any thoughts on how it would stand up to F/I later?

thats not made for our cars at all, you would have alot of extra work to make that useable in the s197

I'm sure that it can be made to fit, but that would be fabricating new motor mounts, cutting out a hole in the hood, different bellhousing at a minimum ,but new transmission more than likely, and maybe even more... I'm no fabricator, but it would seem that where there is a will, there's a way... granted you have the coin to pay for it.

its a carb motor, that is enough reason to not go down that road IMO

Yeah I dont disagree, I would like it to be a somewhat easy fit, humm, back to searching.

A crate engine search engine sure would be nice.

Try calling some of the more reputable engine builders, i.e. livernois (sic) etc. Talking to someone there who does this for a living may have some insight as to what will work/fit to meet your goals.

Whats wrong with a carb motor? You can get800hp from a N/A pushrod 351 ci SBF with a carb easier than with a ohc computerized engine.
