i have seen a jack input in an 06 i test drove... it was most likely a "late 06" running onto 07. it did however have the shaker1000 if it makes a difference.

nuke- does the v6 like your gf's have a different stereo then the gt's?

The only visible difference from looking at the front of her Shaker 500 vs the one in my '07 and the one from an '08 is less than I had thought; the button on mine and the '08 that says "test scan" says only "scan" on hers. I've yet to pull her Shaker out to compare the rear.

If I can get time to pull hers and wire the connector the way I see it shown in the wiring diagrams for the '07 and up, I'll certainly see if that's all there is to it to make her HU work. If not, I'll plug in the one from the '08 and if THAT doesn't work, there'll be at least one HU in the lake.

Hey Nuke, did your car have that C290a connector at all? You're right, that's definitely what we are after, but I'm not even sure my car would have it if its' primary function is the audio input.

It says that the 4 wires from our "mystery connector" that wasn't under the center console go to that C290a connector behind the radio. If I DO have that plug, it's possible that I can just put some additional pins into it (I've got a bunch of those molex-style connector crimp pins at work, one type might fit.. maybe the dealer will have some too)

If not, I'll have to buy that plug, which would be impossible to explain to the parts guy!

And thats why I called BS.
An AUX connector would be using shielded wire, not just unsheilded
wires as the pic above shows.
The auto shift connection is there, manual or auto.

The C290A is used on the '05 and '06 for the CAN bus only, according to the wiring diagrams. Which is why I think it's worth a shot to wire an aux audio connector (with the shield per the diagram if you're so inclined) to see if an '05 or '06 Shaker 500 aux input will function.

Oh cool, so we've got the plug I just need to find out what type of pins it uses then? I might tackle this right now actually.. or try.

The numbers to the left of the wires in my last posted diagram on page 4 are the PIN assignments on the plug, correct?

Correct. 6, 7, 8 and 14 and the drain is #3, as in the wiring diagram. You should be able to tie the 2 negatives (8 and 14) together as a common. Not sure how to handle the shield. If you use a 3 conductor with a shield, tie the drain to the radio frame ground and leave the other end open, I suppose.

I hope the radio itself doesn't need to be programmed to accept the input. I've seen where certain functions are disabled via the programming but have no idea how to access it.
