Sirius Issue
Hey all, New to the group. Just bought a used 2007 Mustang, it has the Shaker 500, with the Sirius tuner. I am trying to activate the radio, and already called Sirius about the issue.
When I push the AUX button and go to SAT 1 It just says Sirius, Call Sirius at the 1-888 number. I tried all SAT's 1, 2, and 3. They tried resending the signals to no avail. I checked the wiring from the trunk mount to the receiver under the carpet, no issues there. I gave them the correct 12 digit ESM number. If anyone knows about this please help me out. Waiting for my nephew who is a Ford Mechanic to call me in the meantime. Would it be that this stereo had its subscription already? Please help. Thanks guys, and happy to be here.

While I can't help with the technical issue, I will caution you that the sound quality of music channels on the Sirius is, in my opinion, terrible (worse than AM). I ended up canceling my subscription because, sound-wise, I could only stand to listen to the talk stations and even those would cut in and out by driving even under so much as a power-line.

if you are getting the "call 1888..." you should be communicating. What did the sirius people tell you?
Also, @CincyGT2009, if you were hearing anything that was 'worse than AM' you have a serious problem with your connection. It is somewhere between FM and CD quality.

I agree with the above, Sirius quality is equal to if not better than FM.

I have great reception as well. An interesting note, I disconnected my antenna to install vinyl striping and when I reinstalled was getting call Sirius at the 1 888 number and a reactivation message. I called several times and tried reactivation several times and still got the message. I gave up dealing with the oversees support person, who was useless and figured I would try again the next day. Inadvertantly, I hit the tuner button and went moved to one of the Sirius channels and it was working fine. I still get the message on the Sirius " default " channel but it isbogus. I preset all my channels and it's working fine. Not sue if this is the case, but try tuning in a real channel, it may be OK.

Well....Sirius streams at somewhere around 32kbps. A "standard" mp3 is 128kbps (considered near FM quality). A "good" mp3 is around 320kbps and will sound like CD quality to most. So there is simply no way that Sirius can come close to either. But, to each their own. If you enjoy it, then far be it from me to rain on your parade :-)

32k was their old basic internet bitrate. Current internet bitrate is 128k (standard or upgrade; can't recall). Over-the-air quality is not as limitied as internet quality.
