Black Wheels hold up in the elements?
Finally made up my mind. Even though I LOVE the 20's on my ride, I'm gonna switch back to the 18's. Buying the Tokico struts and springs, and switching wheels.
Anyways. Thinking of buyin some black wheels and I was worried about how well they'd hold up compared to chrome. Have chrome right now, but sure like the look of the black 5 spoke and black 7 spoke.
Any advice out there?

Well I'm sure you know by now the chrome rims are hard to keep looking sharp, especially with brake dust and road grime! Black rims will get the same but far less noticeable! Should hold up well!

I bought Black Saleen Replica Wheels in like April 09 or so, they look terrible now after going through rain/snow etc... I am going to keep them for winter duty and get some different wheels. If you don't keep them clean all the time they start to collect dust and grime that is noticeable and really hard to get off.

Black is fine, though it gets a nice coating of brake dust which gives it a gray layer color. You will need to get wheel cleaner and hand wash them.
Either way I don't run my good wheels during winter. It will just mess em up.

Bought mine from AM 2 years ago, no real complaints.
I will say that if you're going to buy from AM: the paint (on my set at least) is very, very soft. As in it gets swirl marks very easily. Be careful what towels/brushes you use to clean them. Ended up buying a couple Swissvax brushes. Helluva lot better now.

Man, I love the 20's. But the ride is just tough rough. No sidewall on the tire. With my car slammed the way it is, no suspension left, and the bumps with the 20's on there busted one of my exhaust brackets. Had to head out to the muffler shop and get it fixed.
So I'm gonna buy some Tokico springs/struts, and some 18's with more meat on the tire.
I know the 20's are heavy too, so that otta help out a bit. Was doin some talkin at the Scwab tire shop, they were tellin me most folks who drive with 20's on for 5 or more years, kinda flaten out the suspension anyways. Who knows right? But I know there are some nice lookin 18's out there too. So why not?

My black wheels are holding up a lot better then my chrome Razors did. I'd stay away from American Racing though. Ever since they switched ownership, there quality went down the drain. My chrome wheels lasted a year before they were bubbling from underneath and I've heard bad things about there painted wheels. When looking for black wheels, just make sure there powdercoated
