Default 300 rwhp? A Little Help.

Hello everyone, So I have a 2005 mustang gt automatic. It has a tune and cai on it so far and the rest is stock besides the tires and stuff. My long term goal is to make 300 to 310rwhp without any superchargers or cams and things like that. Is that possible? Has anybody done it with theirs? Looked around and I can't seem to find much information on it. So any help would be great guys thanks in advance!

300 without cams will be hard. But you can add all the bolt ons longtubes, delete plates, pulleys. Before I went FI, I had longtubes, cams, Cai/tune and was about 300 rwhp. Stock my car ran 13.9. With above mods it ran 13.13.

300+ RWHP is doable w/o cams. Assuming you have a decent tune and are turning the average of about 290-295 with the CAI & custom tune, you can probably get there with these off the top of my head:
  1. UDP's for about 3-5 RWHP
  2. Aluminum DS for about 3-5 RWHP
  3. Electric water pump for about 5-10 RWHP (I've heard 10 but I believe 5)
  4. Delete Plates for about 5? RWHP
  5. LT's and OR-pipes for about 10-15 (or more?). Add cams to that and up that to 25 or more.

i had 301 rwhp/ 305 tq with LT's, o/r x pipe, boomtubes, JLT CAI, and the canned SCT tune (no custom tune).
i had about 10 less hp/tq with a K&N CAI and canned tune.
4.10 gears may have decreased the numbers by a few, but thats debateable.
i think i could have squeezed out maybe 10 or more hp/tq with a custom tune.
since you're auto, if you get a custom or email tune you might be pretty close to 300 rwhp.

Thanks for quick replies guys! Just to clear things up I have the sct tuner and jlt cai. I am going to set it for the race tune at 91 octane. The tune is from bama tunes. Don't know what that will make for hp, i'm guessing around 15 to 20? So this is hard to do without cams? I think my next purchase will be an x-pipe of some kind. Then probably going to lean towards some of the parts nuke has listed. Sorry for the noob question but what are Delete plates? What do they do and where can i get them? Do they require a tune?

Power-House, don't forget about losing weight, you can easily drop weight and rotating mass and gain the equivalent of 25 HP with lost weight in total that includes loss of rotating mass. Erik

Thanks for reminder! But I have put a bit of thought into it. I'm New to the hole mustang thing since it's my first real car. lol I will eventually work on loosing a few pounds. I have removed my spare tire and jack lol. Hoping it will make a difference. Currently can't drive it she is in storage for the winter months. Trying to get her ready and running good for the summer.

I'd definitly suggest a ShaftMaster aluminum driveshaft. The stock DS weighs in at 38.8lbs., and their 3.5" GT DS is 18.5lbs. on the dot! 20.3lbs. from the DS is alot of mass. It should result in a couple freed up hp, but most noticable will be a "tighter" feeling to the drivetrain, and less 'clunk' when shifting and accelerating.

Man,,, those cars make an honest 250rwhp stock & a few see almost 260rwhp. A good tune such as the one you got, your JLT cai, Long tube headers with x-pipe, underdrive pully & delete plates will net you a little over 300rwhp. I promise ya that!
