ENCS vs. USAA

ENCS vs. USAA
Ok, so I've been deployed to Afghanistan for almost a year now. When I deployed I knew that my goal was going to be to save up enough money to put a big chunk down on a brand new Mustang. I looked into Exchange New Car Sales (ENCS) when I got to Bagram. Seemed like a good deal. They got me a pretty good discount and had a program where I could set aside money from my paycheck every month that would go towards my down payment. Well, I ordered the car back in March and have since heard all the horror stories about build dates being 6 months or longer, some not at all because of paint or equipment issues related to the tsunami in Japan. Curiousity got the best of me so I started looking at the inventory of local dealerships close to my house. Wouldn't you know it, the closest dealership to my house not only has 1, but 2, of the exact same car I ordered from ENCS. Not only that, they are the USAA dealer in the area, so they were able to give me the USAA price which ended up being almost $2000 less than the ENCS quote. Not hard to figure out what happened next. I canceled my order with ENCS, and am now buying from this local dealer. I can't fault ENCS for anything, other than price. The build date is not in their hands, they did the best they could to get it to me as soon as possible. In fact, their customer service was pretty outstanding. It just amazed me that the USAA price was so much lower and the car, the exact car I wanted was sitting at a dealership right by my house, along with its twin brother. If you're military, before using ENCS, check with USAA first. Their car buying service ended up being the better choice for me.

I'll just go ahead and +1 everything you said. I ordered a motorcycle a few years back through ENCS and didn't have any problems at all though. If I was in the market for a new car now though, I would definitely lean toward USAA's car buying service over ENCS.

I used the USAA car buying service to buy mine. GREAT program to work with and I got a great price on my car as well. They helped me through the buying process also. I bought it 4 weeks before I returned home. All that I had to do was sign the registration on my trade in and drive away when I got back. I'm also paying $107 per month for full coverage with low deductibles through their insurance, cheap as **** for being 22 years old. I have been using USAA checking and savings for a while now and have been nothing but satisfied with them.

Ended up getting a '12 for the price of an '11 through ENCS, though mine was a total fluke and I can't expect anybody else would get the same kind of deal. I also got one of the first ones delivered, so I'm pretty happy!
