yea never considered that bc to me it sounds like a lifter or cam phaser. its fine when its idling cold but its starts knocking when it warms up. it does throw the same code..p0345-camshaft positiong sensor. I've already replace both sensors as well. The local shops have told me different things as well as the dealership. All the wiring looks fine. Once its starts knocking the idle gets really rough and it sounds like its gonna stall and sometimes it does.
ok so i spent most of the day under the car. I unbolted the exhaust up to the headers. Then as i was unbolting the headers i noticed passenger side header was missing one of the lower bolts. My guess is the missing bolt is part of the problem
i took it to the muffler shop today and the guy said it didnt have an exhaust leak. i got underneath the car and it sounds like the ticking is coming from the tranny but it shifts pretty good. I checked the codes again and they are the same codes as always, p0345, p0022, p0021, p0340. I'm gonna take it to a shop where they specialize in mustangs here in SoCal. I hope they can tell me what it is so i can fix it.
I installed my CAI and didn't upload the tune (just to see how it ran without.)
It got the exact knocking noise you're getting.
When put into drive or reverse, the revs would bounce, the car would jump and rattle. But once you got on the road and gave it some gas, everything's fine.
After it warmed up, the knocking would be more apparent while idling. Whereas in a cold start it was only apparent in D/R.
Install your stock airbox, and run the factory tune and see how it goes.

thnaks KPUT i'll try that. Yes it starts knocking when it warms up. In the video the car was idling from a cold start and i had it running for about 20 min. Then when i rev the rpms up it started to knock and it will stay like that until ait cool;s down again. thanks for ur help
Are you due for an oil change soon or no? If you are try switching to the ford motorcraft oil and see if anything changes. It might not cause your knock seems pretty loud over the computer but Ford says that engine noise increases as you get away from motorcraft oil. When I was at JDM last week they told me all they use is Ford motorcraft oil because they were specifically engineered for these cams. Not saying its a definite fix but thats what I would try. It will also let you see if there are any metal shavings in the oil which will let you know if its something serious or not.

my friend had the car when the knocking started. he said he was pumping gas a the exxon and he filled with 91 and mine was tuned for 87. then he got on the fwy and about two miles down the road he said the car felt like it was losing power and he started hearing a knocking sound. when he brought the car to the house we got rid of the 91 octane that was in the car and we went back to 87. i've used seafoam and the knocking is still there. The car is driveable and when i take off from a complete stop there is very little power and then eventually it drives normal. I can only hear the knocking below 2000 rpms
Here is a video of the engine knocking. Its been two months now and i need some serious help fixing my car. thanks
It is hard to tell from the video because it is difficult to judge how loud it is, but I expect it is related to a valve train problem, valve sticking open, hydraulic cam follower collapsing, etc. That would explain the misfiring. What were you doing with the car when it started missing and clattering?
