Default Low RPM rattle

*Knock Knock* Dammit.

I have a low RPM knock/rattle that appears to be coming from the front of the car.

It only happens between 1000 and 2500/3000 RPMs, then it rapidly improves. I've noticed that it isn't nearly as bad in neutral or with the clutch in as it is while in gear. It also appears to be directly related to how much throttle I'm giving. If I'm doing 45mph in 5th gear and pump the gas, it gets REALLY obvious. I've also noticed that it doesn't happen at all when I'm absolutely hammering on the gas.

Any ideas? Fixes? Thank you so much!

It won't hurt to try Premium after the tank gets low enough, to see if a tankfull of that might help. It won't hurt, just cost you a couple dollars more to find out. It might take a few miles to work it's way through. Sounds strange though.

Mine does it too,
especially when in drive at redlights,
and yeah, only in the cold.

Could it be the tranny separator(?) plate that's discussed in the TSB?

I hope not. Could you link me to the TSB? Or is there a sticky? I'm assuming it isn't an easy fix, either.

I heard that 2 bolts they added on 08+ Mustangs fixed it. Could I add them myself per factory blueprints?

Mine definitely does the separator plate rattle.. So that's what it is... TSB.. "remove tranny"... Oh, I think I can deal with a rattle, especially since it's only when the engine is cold! HA!

I'll deal with it if I ever gotta do a clutch.
