Default Roush M90: 2.57 pulley worth it?

Hey,

I've got the M90 blower but curious about pushing it for a bit more. My question is about the pulley alone. I've already got intake, tune and exhaust. Most people add the intake, pulley and tune and it's night and day but all i would be adding is the pulley.

According to websites, the pulley adds 2 - 3 psi, and increases torque more than HP. I plan on doing the fuel wiring upgrade to manage the extra fuel required.

So, is the smaller pulley alone and a re-tune worth it? Will there be a feelable difference?

Thanks!

Yes it is but I would also consider along with the smaller pulley, doing an 10% over drive pulley and a heat exchanger upgrade as well and you will need to get your car re-tuned.

I will be getting the Brenspeed tune with their smaller pulley for my M90 this spring, and I will let you know then. Currently at 463HP, and am told by everyone who has done this, that this combination will boost to a little over 500.

I imagine you mean overdrive pulley, I thought of it, but have heard it increases the heat a lot. I'd prefer not to have to upgrade the heat exchanger. As it stands, adding the pulley would be a cheap addition for me. Also, I do still want to stay on the safe side of things power and heat-wise. I don't want to go for broke - looking for a margin of safety. That being said, I do know if safety is the main concern maybe I should leave well enough alone. I don't know what I want haha

Call Justin with VMPtuning and get the 2.49 pulley. Even better.

I would be worried about belt slip with the 2.49, that's a small pulley. Timmbo what are you putting down for power? That looks like a great set-up!

Thanks. With my mods I'm told the average is 450 rwhp. Haven't had it on the dyno but the "butt" dyno gives it a thumbs up lol.

If your car is already tuned, you will not have to get a retune to swap pulleys. If your car has a press fit pulley, I have a 2.57 laying around I can make you a deal on.

Because I built my motor up all at the same time and never ran with the Roush tune I can't say how much better what I have now is, but Timbo is right the 2.49 pulley is making some very good power for me with an m90, I do have a built bottom end and did upgrade to a dual fan Afco in place of the little Roush inter cooler to help to deal with the increased heat, something that I think is necessary to help prevent heat soak, I'm making a tad over 500rwhp.
