Anybody change their coolant/antifreeze yet..????
It is 3 years now since I bought my baby .. so it is time to change the coolant.. anybody done that yet..?? ( I am sure some have )
and yes I done a search on it.. but couldn't find anything..??? scratching head.. lol
my question is.. ((( how many gallons did you use and was it easy..?? ))) did you just drain the rad. or pull the bottom hose off..???? or did you pay and have it flushed..????
thanks in advance.. *Honest *

i changed mine at 30,000 km
waaaaaay too soon, but i had to replace an upper rad hose twice and dumped out probably a liter + of coolant doing it each time
didn't want to deal with air in the system or anything
took it to a local garage and it took 16 liters i believe...global type coolant

I had to drain the radiator because I wanted to bling up the rad hoses and did not want to make a mess. The drain plug is at the bottom left (passenger side). I simply took the over flow top off and let gravity take its course. After I thought I was done draining it, I did notice some fluid still in the engine (as it leaked out a bit)....since I was not flushing the system I did not worry. I just collected the coolant and reused it.
Here's an interesting tib bit...I poured back exactly I drained...initially the coolant got into the places it supposed to go, but the last 1/4 gal or so filled the over flow tank almost to the top. Strange, I thought, because again, I just refilled it using exactly what I drained. I just then place the top on the overflow and drained a bit to let the air out. After a few days of driving, the coolant level fell back to normal.

With my cars I drain the radiator at 20000 and refill with 50 50 mix coolant and distilled water, then I do this every other oil change which would be10000 miles, It may be overkill but it does not cost much and keeps it fresh. I did this with my 1992 T-Bird and went 206000 miles before I sold it and never had any radiator problems.

For normal driving conditions, the recommended initial coolant replacement is 100,000 miles, and the next at 150,000 miles. If you're conservative suggest changing it at 50-75,000 miles. Severe driving conditions call for more frequent changing.
