White fumes from bonnet
Hey,
I was teaching my little brother to drive stick and I think he hit inappropriate amount of gas while moving from 1st gear and I saw white fumes coming out of bonnet. (out of my ears as well). I immediately checked the engine visually and I couldn't find anything burnt. Any idea what could have happened? I didn't talk to mechanic yet.
Regards,
Karthik

I know you might say I crazy. Have the brother who is surely scared out of his mind, get in the car and rev it something similar to what he did. You stand outside the car with the hood popped and see if you can see it again.
Sometimes wierd things happen, I wouldnt worry to much unless this replicates it.
Just FYI in the states, its called a Hood, so when you take it to a mechanic they dont look at you really funny

A lot of info missing here. What's "an inappropriate amount of gas"? Did you hear the clutch being eaten away? Because that's an absolute an unmistakable smell and noise. But if it's a rubber smell, I'd say check your belt.
Yes, and if you're taking it to the shop, it's called a hood. If they hear "bonnet", that'll be the cue to start the process of convincing you of all the things you don't need. I'd say relax, and wait it out a couple of days. My friend grinded his gears once and immediately called me and asked if he should take it into the shop... check your gauges, make sure you're not leaking, and drive it around for a couple days. It's a car, not an XBOX. These things can take a little abuse.

+1 on a burnt clutch. I hope you weren't teaching him how to smoke the clutch, no pun intended.

I'd wack the little brother in his bonnet, lol.
But seriously, how many miles on the car?
I can't see anyone ruining a clutch in one short instance if it wasn't already worn out.
In that case, he must have finished the remaining 50 miles that were left on it.
